Graduate Medical Education at Adena

Welcome to the Adena Health System located in Chillicothe, Ohio, and thank you for visiting our website to find out more about our Medical Education Department and the programs that we offer.

Within the 281 bed hospital, there is a wide array of services offered to the community such as: MRI, CT Scanning, PET Scanning, Advanced Surgical Suites, Intensive/Cardiac Care, Women and Children Services, a state-of-the-art Maternity Unit, Mental Health, as well as Orthopedic Services and many more areas designed for the comfort , health and safety of the patient. This also provides a wonderful platform for training and learning.

The Medical Education Department is located in the  Adena PACCAR Medical Education Building, a $19 million facility which opened in 2008 and houses the Graduate Medical Education Department for residency programs, the Wright State Miami Valley College of Nursing and Health’s Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Business Education and the David Meade Massie Virtual Hospital. It is an ultra-modern facility that was created specifically for the purpose of training great Osteopathic physicians. The Simulation Lab located at PACCAR is a state-of-the-art learning center. There are adult male and female, adolescent, child and infant mannequins to help you develop your acquired skills even more. Visiting academicians have stated that it appears to be one of the finest simulations labs in Ohio!

Applying for Audition/Away rotations for our Residency Programs

We are so pleased to learn of your interest in Adena Health System’s Residency Programs! Away/audition rotations are scheduled August – December. To be considered for an audition/away rotation, please send the following information to the Medical Student Coordinator listed below:

  • COMLEX and/or USMLE Score Report with Performance Profile – can be unofficial
  • Medical School Transcript – can be unofficial
  • Letter of Good Standing from medical school
  • Recent Photo (headshot)
  • Specific program and rotation date(s) you’d like to request
  • Family Medicine and Psychiatry auditions are 2-week rotations
  • Internal Medicine auditions are 4-week rotations

When this information is received, your completed audition rotation request file will be forwarded to the Program Director for review. Upon approval the medical student coordinator will respond with date availability.
