Adena Health and the YMCA of Ross County offer exclusive evidence-based programs designed for the unique needs of our community at no additional cost. Together, we are committed to strengthening the communities we serve by improving the health and well-being of people of all ages.

Programs offered

Blood pressure self-monitoring
Program length: 8 weeks

This program offers personalized support to help participants successfully monitor their blood pressure.

High blood pressure puts individuals at risk for stroke and heart disease, and can lead to death. Research shows that recording blood pressure at least twice per month for four months can help to lower blood pressure.

Participants will:

  • Take and record their blood pressure at least twice a month
  • Attend two consultations each month with a Health Heart Ambassador
  • Attend monthly nutrition seminars
Diabetes prevention
Program length: 1 year

The diabetes prevention program is a research-based program focused on healthy eating and physical activity. Through participation, this program can help decrease the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Participants will:

  • Learn lifestyle changes to help reduce the risk of diabetes
  • Understand healthy nutritional habits, including meal planning and navigating restaurants, while still enjoying favorite foods
  • Gain knowledge of how to incorporate physical activity into current lifestyle
  • Receive support on how to build and maintain learned skills
Livestrong cancer survivorship
Program length: 12 weeks

Navigating life after cancer often finds survivors overwhelmed and fatigued. This program helps cancer survivors can get back on their feet through customized exercise plans to improve physical well-being and quality of life. Program instructors are certified fitness instructors - and trained in cancer survivorship, post-rehabilitation exercise, and supportive cancer care.

Participants will:

  • Join two sessions each week for 75-90 minutes focused on cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, balance, and flexibility
  • Participate in fitness and quality of life assessments
  • Be offered a free YMCA membership for the program duration
Walk with a Doc
Program length: Offered monthly
