If your pregnancy is high risk, we work closely with the physicians of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Department at the Wexner Medical Center at Ohio State University to provide guidance and specialized care for you and your baby. That means you have access to nationally recognized, world-class care right here at home.

Your Delivery Experience

Our goal has always been to provide you and your growing family the best healthcare and personal service possible. Though we are nationally recognized for our high quality standards of maternity care, our true honor is helping you deliver a happy, healthy baby. Here is what you can expect from your delivery, from the start of labor through your postpartum care:

Five homelike suites for labor, delivery and recovery – all in one place. Your suite has a private bathroom, state-of-the-art equipment for you and your newborn, as well as a recliner so your loved one can stay throughout your labor and delivery.
Two dedicated surgical suites for cesarean sections. All areas are staffed by the same friendly faces that have taken care of you during your labor.
A baby viewing area so new infants can be seen while keeping our moms and babies safe.
A postpartum unit to keep you comfortable and connected with family throughout your stay. With free wireless Internet, a fold-out couch and plenty of space for your infant to stay in the room, it’s the perfect place for you to bond as a new family.
A Level II Special Care Nursery that’s staffed with certified neonatal nurses and Nationwide Children’s Hospital providers. This area is equipped to provide exceptional care for infants born as early as 32 weeks. The nursery includes bedside monitoring and specialized cribs for premature infants to provide a warm, healing, low-stress experience.

Prenatal Screenings

Early prenatal care is your first step towards a successful pregnancy. That includes important screenings for RH compatibility, rubella (German measles), syphilis, hepatitis and HIV, all of which could put your baby at risk. Our prenatal care team can also help you manage chronic conditions, like diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, or high blood pressure. We will also work closely with you to identify any health or lifestyle issues that could complicate your pregnancy.

Adena’s Baby-Centered Recovery Program

If you or a loved one are pregnant and dependent on opiates, Adena’s Baby-Centered Recovery Program can provide prenatal and postpartum support and treatment for a healthy pregnancy.

Our program strives to help by:

Encouraging social support in a non-judgmental, supportive and fun group atmosphere
Improving your confidence to make healthier decisions
Increasing breastfeeding rates
Linking you to other community services
Lowering your chances of having a preterm baby
Offering medically assisted treatment
Providing education about pregnancy and addiction

Women meet with a provider once a week in a group setting to talk about treatment concerns and check progress. These meetings are held once a week for two hours at Adena Regional Medical Center’s Women and Children’s Center, located just inside the north entrance. Licensed social workers and certified lactation providers are also available to offer support.

The program also requires participation in a partial detox program, including monitored Subutex maintenance and random drug screenings.
