Circleville-area resident Diana Stiers lived with pain for a long time. 

Diana was involved in a car accident in 1997 in which she suffered several broken bones, including her kneecap, foot, ankle, and toes, bringing with them considerable pain. She worked with a pain specialist in Johnstown, where she lived at the time, to treat the pain with medication.  

After a while, however, she decided she wanted to explore options other than medication. 

Following a relocation to Circleville, Diana began searching for alternate care for her pain. That’s when she discovered Adena Health and Andrew Porter, DO, with Adena Orthopedic and Spine Institute. 

Instead of turning to pain medication, Dr. Porter sought a more long-term solution to Diana’s pain issues. An electrical nerve stimulator device designed to relieve pain was the plan, and Diana said it changed her entire outlook on life. 

After a trial period with a temporary device, she made the decision to have a permanent device implanted in April of 2022 and has praised the results. The device alone, she said, has resulted in about an 80% reduction in her pain level and, when paired with a different medication, has dropped that level to nearly nothing. 

Besides the successful solution at which she and Dr. Porter were able to arrive, Diana said he is very caring, will go above and beyond what is required, and listens carefully to what his patients are saying. He even told her to call him directly if she has any issues. 

Without question, Diana said she would recommend Dr. Porter to anyone seeking pain relief.
