Lung Cancer Screening for Qualified Individuals
Detecting lung cancer early could save your life.
Why Get Screened for Lung Cancer?
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths around the world, with only 25% of Americans surviving five years, according to the National Cancer Institute. But if caught in its earliest stages, there is a 4 in 5 chance for a cure. At no cost to the patient, Adena Health is offering low-dose chest scans to screen for lung cancer for those who are most at risk.*
By joining the lung cancer screening program at Adena Health, patients also receive one-on-one support from staff, helpful resources on preventing lung cancer, and annual reminders for screening.
*Insurance companies will be billed, however, screenings are at no cost to the patient.
How Is the Screening Performed?
The screening for lung cancer is performed through a non-invasive low-dose CT scan that takes just a few minutes. Adena Health provides free screenings in Chillicothe, Greenfield and Waverly to patients who qualify.
Since starting the program in 2013, the number of cases being detected at Stage 1 has increased while the number of Stage 4 diagnoses have decreased.
