General resource search tools

You may be looking for information that is not found on our other resource pages or from another location in the state or country. Below are some resource reference tools to assist you in finding the help you need.

2-1-1

A resource that can connect you to general resource and service information in some counties in our area and in some cases, other areas is 2-1-1. In our region, 2-1-1  is sponsored in part by our local United Way organizations. To access, simply call 2-1-1 on your phone (available 24/7) or visit the 2-1-1 website which offers a chat and search options. If you want to share this information with patients, there is a  2-1-1 information sheet for patients.

This resource is a way to address more resources both for yourself or patients. Some of these needs are not necessarily ones we are the experts about as healthcare professionals. In the first quarter of this year, half (50%) of the calls to the Ross County 2-1-1 line were for resources for shelter/housing and utilities. Click here for more information about the Ross County calls.

Calling 2-1-1 is a great tool to find those resources that are harder to find in the community. The extent that 2-1-1 works in each county does vary; however, the primary goal of 2-1-1 is to connect people to what is available in the community. Click here to learn if 2-1-1 is available in your area.

County Resource Guides

Within the Community Health Resource Guide is a page dedicated to the County Resource Guides in our region. Here you will find guides from the Job and Family Services and/or Community Action Agencies in most counties.

Findhelp.org

With this resource you enter a zip code and are connected to potential resources serving that location. Some of the information isn't always accurate or current; however, it is a great starting point especially if you are searching for information in a location not as well known to you.

Medicare Comparison Site

CMS requires choice be given to patients about their care options. On the Medicare site is a comparison tool that gives patients and providers the ability to search for resources in a location and compare the star ratings for each. Comparisons are available for home health agencies, nursing home providers, dialysis centers, inpatient rehab centers, physicians, etc.

NeedyMeds

This is a general search tool for patient assistance programs to help patients defer medication costs. From this site you can access patient assistance applications, coupons, and discount programs.

Ohio Assistance Programs

The State of Ohio has published a searchable reference guide of the various state supported assistance programs. From this page you can access programs such as Medicaid, weatherization programs, employment assistance and more. It's a great tool if you are trying to get an idea of what is out there in the state. From this page you can often access local program resource contacts and information.
