Senior farmer's market program

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) is a federally and state-funded program administered by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services Agency and by the Ohio Department of Aging (ODA).  ODA provides additional state funds to support SFMNP operation within Ohio. 

Anyone who is age 60 years of age or older at the time of application and has an annual household income of 185% of the Federal Poverty Level is eligible for the SFMNP.  Those eligible receive up to $50 in produce or honey. This is a seasonal assistance program (summer months primarily).

The program is administered by different agencies depending on the client's county of residence. Each provider has an application process. In our region, providers are:

Area Agency on Aging - District 7 - Applicants must live in one ten counties: Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto, Vinton

Buckeye Hills Regional Council - Applicants must live in Athens, Hocking, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Noble, Perry or Washington County. 

LifeCare Alliance - Applicants must reside in Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Pickaway or Union County. Clients in these counties can pick which assistance option meets their needs.
