Celebrating 24 years of ultrasound excellence
For more than two decades, Adena Women’s Health has earned national recognition for delivering trusted, high-quality ultrasound care to women.
The team has once again achieved accreditation from the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM), marking an impressive 24 consecutive years of meeting or exceeding the organization’s rigorous standards for diagnostic ultrasound.
“This designation is very difficult to earn,” said Betsy Crabtree, clinic manager, following the most recent three-year accreditation. “Our team has worked incredibly hard to maintain this level of excellence. To hold this accreditation for 24 years is something we’re truly proud of. Most importantly, it means our patients can feel confident in the care they receive at Adena Women’s Health.”
That confidence is built on expertise and experience. Adena Women’s Health sonographers are registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, enabling them to provide sonography services for women in all trimesters of pregnancy, as well as a full range of prenatal and gynecological scans.
AIUM accreditation is more than a recognition. It is a rigorous, voluntary peer review process that evaluates every aspect of care, from imaging accuracy to safety protocols.
Meeting high standards for ultrasound care
To earn reaccreditation, the team demonstrated excellence in:
- Clinical expertise: Highly trained physicians and staff who maintain advanced certifications and continuing education.
- Quality assurance: Consistent testing of equipment and thorough reviews of clinical cases.
- Safety and protocols: Strong procedures that protect patients and caregivers, including strict equipment disinfection standards.
- Equipment standards: Ongoing maintenance to ensure imaging tools remain safe, reliable, and precise.
- Documentation: Accurate and secure recordkeeping to support quality care.
This level of AIUM accreditation is usually found in maternal-fetal medicine clinics rather than traditional OB/GYN offices, and Adena is one of just a few health systems across southern and central Ohio to hold the designation.
While the reaccreditation highlights a legacy of excellence, it also reflects something even more important: a continued commitment to getting better every day. For the women and families who rely on Adena Women’s Health, that means continued access to exceptional ultrasound care they can trust.
