WELLSTON, OH (Oct. 20, 2026) – Adena Health celebrated the opening of Adena Health Center-Wellston today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, highlighting an expansion of healthcare services available to residents of Jackson County and surrounding areas. The health center and its on-site pharmacy will open to patients Wednesday, Oct. 21, offering family medicine and convenient prescription services at one location.
Located at 2 East A Street, the nearly 8,600-square-foot facility is more than four times the size of Adena’s previous Wellston clinic. The expanded space includes additional exam rooms, larger waiting areas, improved parking, and an on-site retail pharmacy with drive-thru prescription pickup.
“This investment reflects Adena Health’s commitment to listening to the needs of the people we serve and finding ways to make healthcare more accessible,” said Kathi Edrington, Adena president and CEO. “By expanding our space and services in Wellston, we’re creating more opportunities to care for patients locally and making it easier for families to get the support they need.”
Adena has served the Wellston community since 2016, and its previous clinic has become an important resource for local residents. The new facility will expand capacity to support family medicine for patients of all ages, including preventive care, routine checkups, treatment for common illnesses, and ongoing management of chronic conditions.
The addition of Adena Pharmacy-Wellston further expands access to convenient services at the same location. Open to the public, the full-service pharmacy will offer prescription fulfillment, pharmacist counseling, medication management, and drive-thru pickup, helping patients manage their medications more conveniently.
“This is about more than a new health center and pharmacy. It’s about what it will mean for the people who walk through these doors,” Edrington said. “It’s about making the entire experience as convenient and seamless as possible for patients and making it easier for them to get the care they need.
The project was funded through the Ohio Department of Development’s Appalachian Community Grant Program and the Governor’s Office of Appalachia’s Area Development Program, with collaboration and investment support from local and regional organizations, including the Jackson County Economic Development Partnership, Jackson County Board of Commissioners, Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission, Greater Chillicothe & Ross County Development, Joint Economic Development Initiative of Southern Ohio, Flour-BWXT and the City of Wellston
“This project reflects years of vision, planning, and collaboration among partners who recognized the need for expanded healthcare services in Wellston,” said Sam Brady, former president and CEO of the Jackson County Economic Development Partnership. “We’re grateful to everyone who helped bring this vision to life and proud to see this building serving the community in a new way.
“Having a pharmacy right here in Wellston makes a real difference, particularly for people who may not have reliable transportation to get their prescriptions,” said John Carey, director of the Governor’s Office of Appalachia. “This project is a great example of how investing in local resources can help improve access to essential services and strengthen communities for the future.
