If you or your student-athlete receive a concussion, immediate testing and treatment are important. Most concussion issues last around 7-10 days, and treatment includes mental and physical rest. That includes no running, jumping, weight lifting, drills, gym class, video games, television, texting, or other tasks that require a lot of focus and concentration. In some cases, athletes are even held from school to allow the brain to rest.
With fall sports underway, remember that when injuries happen, we have you covered on Saturday mornings. Our injury clinic provides walk-in care to student-athletes and is open every Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Adena Orthopedic and Spine Institute in Chillicothe.
