April is Child Abuse Prevention Month
Child Abuse Prevention Month seeks to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect, while promoting healthy child development.
Adena Health System has a long history of helping abused children in southern Ohio. Among its many services, the health system provides housing for the only child advocacy center in south-central Ohio, which serves a half-dozen counties in the region.
Likewise, Adana’s Sexual Assault Response Team has been highly successful in identifying and helping in the prosecution of child abuse cases.
Since 1995, the health system has assisted regional officials, including those from law enforcement and mental health, in developing a multidisciplinary team to identify and help investigate child sexual abuse.
The health system will once again be partnering with the Southern Ohio Sexual Assault Survivor Advocates to host the annual “Take a Walk in Her Shoes” event on April 18 at the steps of the Ross County Court House. Learn more or register to help raise awareness about sexual abuse.
If you suspect child abuse, please contact your nearest law enforcement agency.
