Aging resources

Area Agency on Aging provides multiple resources in our communities. In our region, the majority of counties in the Adena service area are in Area Agency on Aging District 7. Exceptions are Fayette and Pickaway counties which are served by the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging

Below are some of the services provided by Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7). You can make a referral to the programs by calling 1-800-582-7277 or through the online referral form

  • Home Repair Program - Area Agency on Aging District 7, Inc. offers a home repair program to eligible older adults in our ten-county region. The program is funded by the Ohio Department of Development Housing Trust Fund Housing Assistance Grant Program and the State of Ohio Senior Community Services Program.

    Services offered include repair or replacement of heating systems; plumbing systems; hot water tanks; water taps and lines; hazardous electrical systems; severely deteriorated roofs, walls, floors and doors; ramps for handicapped-accessibility; and kitchen and bathroom modifications for handicapped-accessibility.   • Hospital 2 Home - The Hospital2Home program is a voucher program for those eligible who are being discharged from hospital to home. Vouchers allow for the purchase of short-term services such as personal care and home-delivered meals to assist individuals returning to their homes after a brief hospital stay. The program will also offer short-term telephonic assistance to help with redeeming the vouchers if necessary and assist in the exploration of ongoing long-term services and supports. Program is limited by service provider availability. 
  • PASSPORT - Provides services such as personal care, homemaker, home-delivered meals, personal emergency response system, medical transportation and more. The services are intended to help people have the supports they need to stay in their homes. There are qualification criteria for this program (age 60, income eligibility, needs assistance with daily living activities, physician approval). Program brochure is here
  • Resource Center - Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) is designated as an Aging and Disability Resource Network with staff available to assist the community with information about resources in their community. AAA7 Information and Referral (I&R) Specialists are responsible for five core functions: Information, Referral and Awareness; Options Counseling; Advice and Assistance; Eligibility Determination for Programs; and Person-Centered  Transition Support.
