Our orthopedic center was built with you in mind. It offers the latest technology and a coordinated care approach to treat your pain. This means that on the day of your appointment, you can be seen by more than one doctor if needed and may be able to have all your tests done that same day (depending on your insurance coverage). When you leave, you will have a diagnosis and treatment plan designed to restore function and comfort.
If you have a more complicated issue, the entire team will determine a treatment plan that will result in the best outcome possible. This may mean that more than one day is needed for testing, consultation and thoughtful consideration of the best options to treat your problem successfully. This may include consultation with a surgeon.

Found to be highly effective, Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP therapy is an application of orthobiologics that uses healthy cells to treat damaged or diseased cells in the body. For many patients, PRP can be used in the treatment of common tissue injuries, such as rotator cuff tears, Achilles tendon ruptures, tendinitis, muscle injuries, arthritis-related pain, and joint injuries. With PRP, platelets are drawn from the patient and “super charged” through a centrifuge. They are then injected into that patient’s damaged tissue to aid healing and re-growth.
The treatments take place in the exam room, and are applied through an injection. The entire process takes only 30-45 minutes. Some conditions may require several injections to help heal the damaged tissue. Currently, patients with abnormal platelet function or a low platelet count, anemia, cancer or an infection cannot receive PRP therapy.
Another orthobiologic procedure being used at Adena involves harvesting stem cells, that are found throughout our bodies, for the treatment of osteoarthritis. This therapy uses a mix of bone marrow and fluid from a patient’s hip to supply the healthy stem cells. Once extracted, the healthy cells are processed and injected into the arthritic area of qualifying patients. Stem cells can divide and duplicate themselves, helping to regenerate healthy tissue in impacted areas.
Stem cell therapy takes about an hour, and is an in-office procedure. There are few to no side-effects, and the treatment is having positive results for patients.

They are experts in various surgical techniques, including minimally invasive surgery — with a focus on reducing pain, shortening recovery and helping you to normal activity safely.
Our orthopedic surgeons perform over 600 total knee, hip and shoulder replacements each year, with an average hospital stay of less than 48 hours. They also perform thousands of other procedures, with hospital stays as short as just one day.
Our 20-bed Inpatient Orthopedic Unit was designed with your comfort and healing in mind. We offer private rooms with private bathrooms, stand-up showers and handrails throughout the floor to help with movement and recovery. Our orthopedic physical therapists and occupational therapists want to get you up and moving, so they visit your room daily and schedule rehabilitation as soon as possible for the best possible outcomes.

During a joint replacement surgery, a joint is removed and replaced with an artificial joint, made of metal or ceramic material. This procedure, followed by rehab therapy, can restore movement in the joint without pain.
