Women's Board

In 1895, the Women’s Board, then known as the Board of Lady Managers, along with a dozen local churches, founded the Chillicothe Hospital. The original board was responsible for management of the early hospital, as well as fundraising. Today, the Women’s Board devotes its efforts to two annual fundraising events – the February Giving Hearts Dance and Spring Plant sale.

The Women's Board is made up of women who volunteer their time to raise money for the benefit of the hospital. Meetings are held the fourth Monday of each month at 10:30 a.m. in the PACCAR Medical Education Center.

Projects

Giving Hearts Dance

Funds raised will benefit the Adena Health Foundation Scholarship Fund and Survivor Support Fund.

Annual Plant Sale

A plant sale is held in May of each year. Order forms are mailed in March to previous customers. Plants are delivered to the Lion's Shelter in Yoctangee Park on the first Wednesday of May. Customers can pick up their orders from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. A large selection of annuals are offered, including many hanging baskets. Over $10,00 is raised each year.

Healing Garden

The Woman's Board has pledged up to $100,000 to complete a beautiful garden located outside the treatment area of the cancer center. It is also decorated for seasonal holidays by volunteers.

The Children's Fund

Donations of toys, coloring books and dolls are supplied for children in the pediatric surgical unit.

Scholarships

Financial scholarships are given each year to applicants pursuing careers in the health or medical field.

New Year's Baby

The women of the board purchase items to fill a basket to present to the first baby born in the new year.
