Congratulations to the sonography team at Adena women’s health for their recent accreditation by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM). This designation recognizes the excellent care provided by the team at Adena as well as the quality of the program’s aspects beyond face-to-face patient care, including education, training, and system policies. This accreditation conveys to patients the high integrity of Adena’s program and reinforces trust in Adena’s services.

All of Adena’s women’s health sonographers are registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in obstetrics and gynecology, which means they are able to provide all sonography services for women in all trimesters, ensuring they can receive all of their care in one place, close to home.

Sonography services include prenatal scans from first through third trimesters as well as gynecologic scans. Care is provided to patients of all ages, from pediatric to geriatric. Sonography services are currently offered at Adena locations in Chillicothe, Circleville, Waverly, Jackson, Washington Court House, and Greenfield.

Sonography services are part of the comprehensive women’s care offered at Adena, which is a crucial component of providing close-to-home health care in our communities. The Adena women’s health specialists serve approximately 800 patients per month.

From the AUIM website:

AIUM ultrasound practice accreditation is a voluntary peer review process that allows practices to demonstrate that they meet or exceed nationally recognized standards in the performance and interpretation of diagnostic ultrasound examinations. The accreditation process encourages providers of diagnostic ultrasound services to assess their strengths and weaknesses and initiate changes to improve their practices.

Practices accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) have demonstrated competency in every aspect of their operation, including:

  • Personnel education, training, and experience
  • Document storage and record keeping
  • Policies and procedures safeguarding patients, ultrasound personnel, and equipment
  • Instrumentation
  • Quality assurance
  • Case studies
