If you or your child suffers from recurrent sinus, ear, or pulmonary infections, it’s possible you may have immunodeficiency, a condition in which certain white blood cells meant to protect you from harmful substances don’t work quite like they should.
Often chronic infections, such as sinusitis, are not treated with antibiotics long enough to clear up. In that case, what may seem like multiple infections is really just one long case of the same infection.
At Adena Allergy and Immunology, we conduct immunodeficiency testing, including blood tests that determine if the levels of immunoglobulin in your blood are normal.
We also can administer intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), a form of antibody replacement therapy that can help limit infections for people with immunodeficiency disease.
