Robotic Surgery
Robotic-assisted surgery is an advanced form of minimally invasive surgery that allows the surgeons to perform procedures through several ½-inch incisions rather than a traditional “open” incision that could be 6 inches or longer. In some cases, such as with gallbladder removal and benign hysterectomy, newer single-site instrumentation allows procedures to be performed through just one small incision in the belly button—making surgery virtually scarless!
The benefits of robotic surgery include:
- Smaller incisions and less scarring
- Less pain
- Less blood loss
- More precise outcomes
- Shorter hospital stays
- Faster recovery
- Fewer post-operative complications and infections
Adena surgeons are now performing robotic-assisted surgery for these procedures:
- Hysterectomy
- Prostatectomy
- Gallbladder surgery
- Nissen (surgery for reflux)
- Hernia Surgery
- Lobectomy and Wedge Resection
- Pyeloplasty (surgery to remove blockages in the urinary system)
- Kidney removal
