Discover the Many Benefits of Robotic-Assisted Surgery.
Adena Health System is pleased to announce the addition of the da Vinci X® and Xi® Surgical Systems to our growing lineup of robotic resources. The da Vinci Xi is optimized for larger, more complex surgeries, while the da Vinci X is ideal for simpler procedures in the lower abdomen, such as prostatectomy, hysterectomy and hernia repair. Robotic-assisted Surgery Offers You the Potential for:
- Reduced trauma
- Less anesthesia
- Less blood loss and need for transfusions
- Less post-operative pain and discomfort
- Less risk of infection
- Shorter hospital stays
- Faster recovery and return to normal daily activities
- Less scarring
- Better surgical outcomes
Unlike traditional surgery, robotic-assisted surgery allows your surgeon to perform complex procedures through just a few small incisions with extraordinary precision. Though it is often called a “robot,” the da Vinci system cannot act on its own. While the robotic arms perform the movements of your surgery, the entire procedure is orchestrated by your surgeon, who is seated at a console just a few feet away from you.
The da Vinci X and Xi systems provide Adena surgeons with enhanced range of motion, dexterity, and precision, and allow them to perform complicated surgeries on areas of the body that were previously impossible to reach without a large incision.
Thanks to a tiny camera, inserted into one- to two-centimeter incisions, Adena surgeons are able to see a magnified, high-definition, three-dimensional view of the surgical area inside your body. Using this display and special hand and foot controls, the surgeon performs the procedure from the console. Your surgeon’s hand movements are translated into smaller, more precise movements carried out by miniaturized instruments attached to four robotic arms and inserted through dime-size incisions in your body.
Unlike the human hand, da Vinci “hands” can rotate 360 degrees and make microscopic incisions and sutures, allowing surgeons to perform more delicate procedures through small incisions. The system also “remembers” the surgeon’s last position, so if he/she needs to rest, the arms can be returned to the same spot when they resume.
Both the da Vinci X and Xi offer your surgeon voice and laser guidance systems to help during pre-op prep; and both are built upon a dynamic platform that allows for the seamless integration of future upgrades and innovations.
