Navigating the Financial Burdens of Cancer
Fighting cancer isn’t always just about physical endurance and mental fortitude. Sometimes the fight is financial, too.
Adena Cancer Center has been treating cancer in our community for three decades. We understand the economic, employment, and housing climate here because we call Ross County home, too. That’s why financial counseling and assistance is something we take seriously. Our licensed social workers and financial counselors:
- Help patients understand what their insurance covers and follow up on insurance issues
- Help find assistance for the cost of treatments or medications
- Help patients apply for assistance through the Adena Health Foundation Cancer Fund, which provides gas money, medication vouchers, and wigs
- Connect patients with community agencies and resources that help with transportation, financial, or other needs
Social Work Services- Adena Cancer Center’s social work services department helps patients and families navigate the complexities of cancer treatment, including understanding insurance coverage, advance directives, and rising medication costs; adjusting to a cancer diagnosis; and connecting patients with community resources and support groups.
