Musculoskeletal disorders are the second most common reason people visit the doctor. Luckily, many injuries can be treated without surgery and for the team of orthopedic (bone and joint) specialists at Adena, that’s our goal. Our orthopedic teams follow a conservative approach to care — working through the least invasive treatments and therapies – in the hopes that surgery isn’t necessary. Our teams understand arthritis, osteoporosis and bone and joint health in order to help identify effective nonsurgical treatments, rehabilitation, physical therapy.

Should surgery ultimately be needed, our expert orthopedic physicians and specialists know how to guide patients through their procedure and follow-up therapy. Adena Regional Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. The Gold Seal is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.

Adena Sports Medicine, a division of Adena Orthopedics, focuses on the athlete’s overall health beyond the sprains, strains, bones, ligaments and tendons. That’s just one reason why Adena Sports Medicine is a trusted provider for 12 area high schools’ athletic trainers, supplying services like sports physicals and concussion management programs. We also provide education and support by offering Saturday Morning Injury Clinics and by hosting coach clinics to help educate coaches on injury prevention and sideline first aid.

At Adena, we’re taking extra precautions to ensure a safe environment for all patients, visitors and staff. If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, including fever or cough, please call our COVID-19 Hotline at 740-542-SAFE (7233) and refrain from any in-office visits.

Another way we work to keep patients safe is by offering Virtual Visits, using phone and/or video, to allow patients the option of consultation from their homes. While virtual visits are safe and convenient, they don’t always serve as a complete replacement for an in-office visit.
