About Allison Dailey
Allison K. Morrell Dailey, MD, is a board certified psychiatrist at Adena Counseling Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. She specializes in adult psychiatry and has a special interest in women’s mental health issues and pregnancy mental health issues.
Mental illness affects women differently than men, with common mental illnesses in women including depression, anxiety disorders, and eating disorders. Understanding that women have different triggers and reactions to mental illness, Dr. Dailey works closely with patients to create effective treatment plans.
Dr. Dailey also specializes in mental illnesses associated with pregnancy, including anxiety and postpartum depression. As many as 15 percent of women experience depression or an anxiety disorder during pregnancy, according to research conducted by the University of Michigan. Also, as many as 1 in 7 women experience postpartum depression, according to research published in JAMA Psychiatry. Yet, many women do not seek help. Dr. Dailey can assess and treat a multitude of pregnancy-related mental health issues before they overshadow a woman’s life.
Dr. Dailey attended medical school at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed her residency in psychiatry at the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine, before returning to Ohio in 2014 to join the Adena Counseling Center.
