Inspired by his father, Dr. Liu knew he wanted to purse a career in the medical field at a very young age. “ I was always interested in Biology, Physiology and Anatomy,” said Dr. Liu. “Growing up with a father as a physician, I grew up understanding the value and the gratification of helping others.”
Dr. Liu earned his edical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica and during his residency and fellowship worked with many athletes and patients with dealing with concussions. During that time,Dr. Liu was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and the Great American Pick Up. He also volunteered his time as a physician for events such as obstacle course races, The Ironman Competition, Kentucky Derby and the 2015 PGA Championship. “Working with a variety of athletes has been very rewarding in the fact that it has taught me about all different types of injuries from common sprains, to concussions to even dehydration,” he added.
Dr. Liu has also enjoyed participating and watching sports. “While I have always had an interest in sports, I have also always been very problem focused and driven to find answers,” he said. “I chose to specialize in Sports Medicine because working with patients with these types of injuries is like solving a puzzle.”
As an auditory learner, Dr. Liu is very attentive when it comes to listening to his patients needs and takes his time getting to know them. “My favorite part about being a doctor is when patients tell me they are feeling better,” said Dr. Liu. “It is a great feeling knowing I am doing my job correctly and helping those in need.”
Dr. Liu chose to practice at Adena because he really admires the relationship between the sports medicine doctors and the rest of the orthopedic team.
He is currently learning to play golf and enjoys bicycling. Dr. Liu also has plans to complete an obstacle course race in the near future.
