March of Dimes Walk to benefit local babies

Adena Health System is supporting the Scioto Valley March of Dimes, March for Babies. The annual walk is scheduled for Sunday, April 21 at Yoctangee Park and half of the funds raised internally will be contributed to the Adena Women’s & Children’s Fund.

“Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick,” said Jackie Rebman, MSN, RN, director of Adena Women and Children and March of Dimes team leader for Adena.

Rebman said that her team is walking because they want to do something to help give all babies a healthy start. She added that even if you can’t walk at the event, you can still help by donating to the team.

Participation and donation gives hope to the more than half a million babies born prematurely each year and supports the mission of March of Dimes to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Funds raised at the event will go towards programs right here in our community, which helps moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies.
