Adena Sports Medicine and the Adena Health Foundation are again teaming up to offer Adena’s High School Athlete of the Month. The program recognizes student-athletes who go above and beyond and display leadership, not only on the field or court, but also in the classroom.

High school seniors who have made a considerable effort to maintain a higher grade point average and perform community service, all while reaching high levels of athletic accomplishment are eligible for nomination.

One female and one male winner will be announced each month based on the number of votes received through Adena’s Facebook page. Adena’s High School Athlete of the Month runs from October through April of the school year.

Each Athlete of the Month winner will receive a special award and a donation of $500 will be made to their respective high school. Winners will also be eligible for the Adena Sports Medicine Athlete of the Year and a $3,000 scholarship.

Program Rules:

  • Open to high school senior athletes in the following counties: Adams, Fayette, Gallia, Highland, Hocking, Jackson, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton.
  • Athletic directors, coaches, school administrators, and parents nominate players each month and the selection committee chooses up to four male and four female finalists. Nominations must be received by the 20th of each month to be eligible for the upcoming month's contest.
  • Votes are casted through Adena's Facebook page to determine one male and one female winner from chosen finalists each month. The voting period will be from the 1st to the 7th of each month.
  • The Athlete of the Year will receive a scholarship to the university of their choice. In addition, a donation and plaque will be given to their high school athletic program in their honor.
