Our Culture

Culture is defined as a “way of life” for a group of people. It’s how they do things.

But what do we mean when we say “culture” at the Adena Health System?

It’s the way we bring our values – Compassion, Excellence, Integrity, Trust – to life. It’s about how we take an idea and turn it into action. It’s how we live those values, each and every day.

The caregivers at Adena Health System are privileged to serve the health care needs of our patients and communities. At center of this privilege is compassion. We show compassion by empathizing with others, putting ourselves in their shoes and understanding their situation.

We strive for excellence daily by treating every opportunity as a learning experience to provide the best possible care. We also promote and support an environment of continuous learning so that our caregivers can stay at the top of their fields.

At Adena Health System, integrity is critical to our mission. It comes into play in everything we do. At Adena, integrity means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.

Because the community places their health and well-being in our hands, we return that trust through open and honest communication, honoring their confidentiality and privacy, and displaying genuine care and concern.

If you share those values and you’re looking for an opportunity to make a difference and enrich your own life, you’ve come to the right place.

Our shared goal is to make Adena the most trusted health care provider in the region, and the best place for the careers of our caregivers.

Our Leadership

The feeling of empowerment and can-do spirit exemplified by Adena Heath System employees start at the top.

The commitment to excellence for which Adena is known comes from a professional and engaging leadership team with a progressive vision for the future.

The Adena Health System is governed by a 15-member Board of Trustees.

The Board is comprised of one representative from each of the nine churches who founded the hospital that would become Adena in 1895 as well as four members-at-large and two members from the hospital medical staff. Our trustees bring a variety of expertise and unique perspectives on the needs of the communities served by the Adena Health System.

These board members work closely with the system’s president and CEO to forge a promising future for the health system and the communities it serves.

In June 2017, the Board of Trustees selected Jeff Graham to serve as Adena Health System’s President and CEO and lead the organization.

Graham returned to Adena after serving as President and CEO of Mercy Health’s East Market in the Cincinnati area. Graham previously served in a number of capacities for Adena Health System from 2002-2012, including CEO & Administrator for Adena Greenfield Medical Center, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Strategy Officer.

Since returning, Graham has launched several initiatives, including the acquisition of two hospitals and construction of a new bone and spine center, while also guiding the health system and region through a global pandemic.

With Graham’s leadership and progressive vision, our patients and the community can take pride in knowing that the Adena Heath System is committed to delivering the best care available in South Central Ohio.

Adena in the Community

In 1895, a train wreck prompted a handful of Chillicothe residents to take care of those injured, resulting in the creation of an emergency hospital that eventually would evolve into the Adena Health System.

Since then, the Adena Health System has played a vital role in enriching the lives of those living in the region it serves. In addition to delivering medical care and enhancing the health and well-being of those living in Ross County and the surrounding areas, Adena Health and its employees have taken an active role in the community.

Whether through local sponsorships or Adena Health Foundation-hosted events, we live our mission of being “called to serve our communities” by getting involved in a number of ways.

Our Size, Scope and Services
