Architect and General Contractor Named for Adena’s New Emergency Department

Adena Health System has selected Danis Building Construction Co., based in Dayton, as general contractor for construction of Adena Regional Medical Center’s (ARMC) new Emergency Department. In addition, DesignGroup, located in Columbus, is serving as the project’s architectural firm.

The Hospital announced plans in October 2016 for a $36.1 million expansion and renovation project to modernize and expand its outdated Emergency Department. Now underway, the project will nearly triple the size of ARMC’s current Emergency Department, taking it from 16,500 square feet to 59,000 square feet of new clinical and waiting space.

“This project is the result of listening to our community, and understanding what they want in their hometown Emergency Department,” said Nick Alexander, ARMC Vice President. “We looked for building partners with expertise in healthcare industry projects, and proven track records of success. Danis and DesignGroup understand the needs of our patients, our providers and the communities we serve. We are excited to work with these experts in creating a more efficient and comfortable Emergency Department for our patients and caregivers.”

The current ARMC Emergency Department was last renovated 28 years ago. Since then, requirements for patient privacy have been implemented, technology advancements require space for new equipment, and the number of patients, providers and caregivers has also increased; factors all contributing to the need to grow and meet today’s volume of patients using this service. Plans for the new department will help Adena’s Emergency Department serve patients in the fastest, most efficient and caring way.

“For more than 20 years, DesignGroup has helped Adena Health System plan and grow its campuses to serve local communities,” said DesignGroup CEO Sherm Moreland. “Our team is grateful to contribute our planning, architectural and interior design services on this Best in Class emergency department expansion.”

“Building value for clients is our utmost priority,” said John Danis, CEO of Danis Business Construction. “We place clients’ needs first; always demonstrating the highest level of honesty and integrity, providing quality and attention to detail, and standing behind our work. Adena’s commitment to excellence in health care mirrors this model. It’s an honor to partner on this exciting and transformative expansion project.”

Adena’s Emergency Department expansion and renovation project is expected to be complete in 2018.
