Accreditations and Achievements

Adena is an Award-Winning Health System in the Foothills of the Appalachian Mountains

The Adena Regional Medical Center, along with other healthcare facilities within the health system, has received a number of awards, accreditations and accolades.

Trailblazer Award

The Trailblazer Award is one that is presented to individuals, businesses or organizations that are recognized as pioneers – those that have blazed a trail to guide others with unique and innovative ideas or programs.  The award recognized three hospital partners that are working closely with the Area Agency on Aging District 7 on the Community Care Transitions Project. This Care Transition partnership has been a journey for not only us as a community based organization but also for our partner hospitals. The ultimate goal is to reduce readmissions and we are showing we can successfully do that. But the real reason we do what we do is because we care deeply about those individuals entrusted to our care. The Area Agency on Aging along with our three area hospital partners are blazing the trail to the future of healthcare. We are the pioneers leading the way for many.

Best Regional Hospital

The Adena Regional Medical Center is ranked among the “Best Regional Hospitals” in the nation and its pulmonology services were recognized as “high-performing” in a survey conducted by US News & World Report.

Community Value Five-Star and Community Value 100

The rankings, which were issued by Cleverley and Associates as part of its State of the Hospital Report, are based upon the health system’s Community Value Index.

The index examines four key performance areas —financial viability and plant reinvestment, hospital cost structure, hospital charge structure and hospital quality performance.

Society of Chest Pain Centers

In August 2011, the Adena Regional Medical Center received accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers. The Phase III Chest Pain Center accreditation recognizes Adena for achieving “a higher level of expertise in dealing with patients who arrive with symptoms of a heart attack.”

Adena’s accreditation includes the use of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention. PCI is a treatment for an acute heart attack, known as STEMI, which uses specialized equipment in the catheterization lab to open acutely blocked arteries, in a timely manner.

American College of Cardiology Foundation’s NCDR ACTION Registry

In July 2011, the Adena Regional Medical Center was notified it was one of only 167 hospitals nationwide to receive the GWTG Gold Performance Achievement Award for 2011, from the American College of Cardiology Foundation’s NCDR ACTION Registry. The award recognizes Adena’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care achieving “a higher level of expertise in dealing with patients who arrive with symptoms of a heart attack.”

American Heart Association’s Mission Lifeline Recognition Program
