Traditional Osteopathic Internship Program

The Osteopathic Internship Year is designed for individuals who wish to do a follow-on residency in a variety of disciplines that require one year of medicine prior to entering the residency program. Also, if you are a fourth-year medical student and unsure of your future career pathway, you can enter an Internship Program to hone in on what specialty of medicine you really want to pursue. It is a one year program with rotations in Pediatrics, Critical Care, Family Medicine, Ob/Gyn, Emergency Medicine, Surgery, Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy (OMT), one month of a medical subspecialty and four months of electives. This gives you a chance to make a better decision based on your experience in the above-mentioned areas.

The Adena Health System has six positions for the Osteopathic Internship Program, and we offer you training on a one-on-one basis….you and the physician.

Osteopathic Emergency Medicine Residency Program

The plan is to have the Osteopathic Emergency Medicine Residency Program in place by June 2013. Our goal is to provide residents with contemporary, challenging and compassionate learning experiences that promote a broad understanding of the professional interactive role of emergency medicine as it relates to other medical disciplines and in initial medical care. Once again, you will be taught on a one-on-one basis by Board certified experts in their fields.

There are plans for other Osteopathic residency programs in the future, and we will keep you updated as they become reality.

We can offer you a beautiful area in which to live and work since we are located in the Appalachian foothills. We have five state parks, a national forest and scenic drives. There is a 30 mile walking/biking trail to explore as well as the famous outdoor play, Tecumseh which plays from May to September. It is the hub of Native American culture, hence the name Adena. Chillicothe is located close by Columbus, Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio.

Come visit us and train in a wonderful learning environment. You won’t regret it!
