Foundation : About

We’re always looking to the future and finding ways to continue growing, expanding our services and making our care even better.
The Adena Health Foundation is focused on supporting the mission of the health system, “To heal. To educate. To care.” By working together, we can help Adena Health System be the best health system in the nation, and make our communities the kinds of places in which we want our children and grandchildren to live, work, and prosper.
The fundraising and grant-making arm of Adena, Adena Health Foundation, provides essential financial resources to further its community benefit initiatives. The Foundation serves five important functions:
- Serves as a focal point for giving and grant-making for health and health-related initiatives throughout South Central Ohio.
- Translates gifts into special projects in the health system that improve health and wellness in the community.
- Maintains funds for donors who designate their gifts for special programs and the unique needs of our patients.
- Reduces the health system’s need to borrow for new facilities, renovations and equipment, thereby freeing up operating revenue for expanding patient care through implementation of Capital Campaigns.
- Provides accountability to donors.
The goal of making Adena the best healthcare system for you constantly drives and challenges us. Powered by contributions from businesses and individuals, we:
- Completed our first capital campaign for $5 million to help the health system build the PACCAR Medical Education Center for professional nursing and healthcare education.
- Gave more than $410,000 to the health system from your contributions to help build the new Maternity Center in the 2010 northeast expansion project.
- Provided funding for the pilot project that placed 12-Lead EKG units in volunteer EMS squads and trained Basic and Intermediate EMT’s to use them, which resulted in heart attack patients receiving faster care when they arrived at the hospital.
- Provided Code Blue crash carts, automatic external defibrillators and transport carts in public areas of the hospital.
- Provided scholarships to students studying to become healthcare professionals.
- Provided healthcare at no cost to those who could not afford it.
