The rehabilitation unit at Greenfield Area Medical Center has provided comprehensive inpatient rehab since 1984. As a leader in physical rehab, our 16-bed unit is regionally renowned for quality healthcare and outstanding results.
Our inpatient rehabilitation unit is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
Our inpatient rehabilitation programs provide Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Therapeutic Recreation, Psychology, Nursing and additional support services. A minimum of three hours of therapy a day is provided to patients during their stay. Therapy is provided Monday through Saturday, with the exception of holidays. Rehabilitative nursing is provided 24 hours a day.
Another factor that sets us apart from other rehabilitation facilities is the comfort in knowing that a physician is in-house at all times.
Our FIM (Functional Independence Measure) scores have exceeded national scores in functional improvement and discharge into a home/community setting for the past four years. Nearly 90 percent of our patients are discharged to home.
In having provided exceptional rehabilitative care to more than 1,900 patients over the years, we are proud of our reputation for excellence.
Treatment at Greenfield Area Medical Center is not limited to four walls. The rehab unit offers two unique programs for our patients.
Our enabling garden was established in 1997. This innovative way of combining treatment with nature has been very rewarding for our patients and therapists. Patients enjoy working in the garden and many times are not aware of the great benefits that they are receiving. A variety of stimulating activities is centered on the beauty of nature in our tranquil garden. As the seasons change, anticipation accompanies each new discovery.
Our community re-entry program is a combined effort of therapists and local business owners. The structure of the program is so that the patient is able to venture outside of the hospital setting. This outing allows the patient to address any fears that they may have in returning to the community setting. The outing provides opportunity for the patient to use what they have learned during their rehab stay. Two staff members, for support, accompany the patient. This helps to aid them in determining the patient’s readiness for discharge.
