Outpatient Nutrition Therapy
Nutrition Services is pleased to provide outpatient nutrition therapy services. The following is designed to answer some of the common questions we receive about this service.

Q. What are the benefits of nutrition therapy?
A.
Good nutrition habits are vital for disease prevention and wellness. Knowing more about the impact of nutrition on health can help people effectively manage and recover from many different health problems. Through the utilization of nutrition therapy, a registered, licensed dietitian can provide you with an individualized nutrition care plan to meet your health care needs. Adena Regional Medical Center dietitians specialize in helping meet the special nutritional needs of those with cardiac or renal disease, cancer, diabetes mellitus, gastrointestinal problems and those who need assistance with weight-management.

Q. What does nutrition therapy cost?
A.
Appropriate nutrition therapy has been shown to be cost-effective. In fact, most major insurance companies, including Medicare, will give at least partial reimbursement for nutrition therapy prescribed by a physician. The charge for nutrition therapy is $11.25 for 15 minutes or $45 for a one-hour session. Most individual therapy sessions range from 45 minutes to one hour. Patients and/or insurance will be billed for services.

Q. How can I arrange to have nutrition counseling?
A.
Speak to your doctor. If he or she feels you may benefit from a nutrition counseling, he will write a physician order for this service and make the appropriate arrangements with us.

If you preregister for the appointment over the telephone, you will go directly to Nutrition Services at Adena Regional Medical Center. If you have not been pre-registered, you will need to complete the registration process prior to your appointment. To do this, visit outpatient registration at the West Entrance to the Medical Center. From there, you will be given directions to the Nutrition Counseling room.
