Care & Services : Hospitalist
Physicians focused on your care.
When you’re admitted to the hospital, you’ll receive the complete attention from a member of the Adena Hospitalist Group.
What is a hospitalist?
A hospitalist is an inpatient-trained physician who only cares for patients while they are admitted to the hospital.
What does your hospitalist do?
For patients who don't have a primary care physician, whose family physician is located out of town or does not have admitting privileges at Adena, the hospitalist ensures consistent, quality care. Your hospitalist is here to:
- Maintain communication among nurses, care managers and family physicians.
- Work closely with your primary physician to make sure your care is consistent and coordinated.
- Provide your family doctor with a comprehensive report on your diagnosis as well as any tests, plan of care, procedures, or medications that are ordered for you.
Along with the direct benefits to your health, your hospitalist is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Thanks to their efforts, your primary care physician is able to serve more patients and provide greater availability for follow-up care and regular visits.
